A Latin American winery, Viña VIK, run by Chile's VIK, has made a grand entrance into the world of NFTs by launching its first non-fungible token. After introducing its flagship wine, VIK, last March, Viña VIK is now offering a limited edition of 50 double-magnums from the 2018 vintage, in NFT form.

This initiative marks VIK as the first winery in Latin America to adopt NFTs. By acquiring one of these NFTs, the holder has the opportunity to exchange their digital asset for VIK's 2018 vintage double magnum. The innovative aspect of wine NFTs lies in their ability to offer complete traceability thanks to the unique digital token, enabling buyers to track the location of their precious wine in real time.

Each NFT comes with a unique signature that attests to its authenticity, increasing its appeal in the high-value collectibles market, particularly in the wine sector. Purchasers receive an exclusive digital token confirming their ownership of the product, guaranteeing that it cannot be counterfeited or altered in any way.

The double-magnums will be kept in the winery's cellar, under the careful supervision of VIK's head winemaker, Cristian Vallejo. This guarantees that they will receive the necessary care until the buyer decides to collect them, at any time after purchase.

The edition chosen is VIK's 2018 vintage, which has received excellent reviews. Due to its exclusive nature, this limited edition of VIK 2018 will only be available as an NFT, directly on VIK's digital platform, or for visitors to the producer's Millahue winery. It will not be available for purchase in stores. Each NFT will be priced at 750 MATIC, or around £366 at the current exchange rate.
