The growing shortage of warehouse space in the beverage industry has been exacerbated by the COVID pandemic.
Alcoholic beverage warehouses, particularly near major ports, are facing high levels of space scarcity. This situation is attributed to increased demand relative to supply, accentuated by the growth of e-commerce and logistical complexity. Major U.S. ports and inland distribution centers are particularly hard hit. The labor crisis has also contributed to the problem.
Possible solutions include the adoption of innovative technologies such as warehouse drones and mobile robots, as well as adjustments to the supply chain vision.
However, the construction of additional warehouses is hampered by factors such as limited space availability and delays in lease negotiations. Some industry players are exploring alternative approaches to deal with current constraints.
